Forest Restoration Day with Pest Free Kaipātiki
27/09/2024
This month we were thrilled to take a group of our commercial clients to volunteer with the dedicated team at Pest Free Kaipātiki, contributing to the ongoing restoration of native bush in one of Auckland’s greenest areas. The day was filled with hands-on work to remove pest plants, a crucial step in paving the way for native species to thrive.
Pest Free Kaipātiki loved working with us because, as they said, we understand that ecological restoration isn’t a “one hit wonder.” We’re committed to supporting long-term projects that protect and restore our environment. Our team didn’t just show up—we threw ourselves into the effort, removing invasive plants that will allow native species to be planted next year. This work also contributes to an ongoing effort by local volunteers to restore the health of Kaipātiki’s wetlands, which is essential for supporting New Zealand’s unique biodiversity.
Our collective efforts accelerated the restoration process—many hands really do make quicker work! Pest Free Kaipātiki’s amazing volunteers regularly tackle pest plants and predators, creating spaces where native plants and animals can flourish. They hope that during our visit, we not only helped the environment but also learned more about the vital role native plants play and the significance of ecological restoration.
Beyond the environmental benefits, Pest Free Kaipātiki is committed to creating lasting connections—both between people and with nature. They’ve seen firsthand how volunteer efforts like ours support not only the health of the ecosystem but also the physical and mental well-being of the community. We couldn’t agree more and were grateful for the chance to be part of something so meaningful.
